Dual Credit Composition

Dual Credit Composition and Research is for 12th grade students. For high school, it will count as 1 credit over the 2 semesters. It is a weighted course. To enroll, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The course is designed to prepare the college-bound student in the writing process, including development of organizational patterns (e.g. narration, comparison, definition, and evaluation). Students will write several essays and at least one research paper using MLA format. To receive college credit, the student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and an ACT English score of 18. Fall semester is Composition I, Rhetorical Modes, and Spring Semester is Composition II, Argumentative Writing and  Research. Each semester is eligible for 3 college credits.
